Description
This mini-symposium brings together researchers from different groups, from USA, Spain and France, all working on the mathematical modeling of telomere dynamics. It will give a unique opportunity to compare and discuss different approaches on close subjects : parameter inference of telomere length regulation in yeast (Viviana Gavilanes); stochastic models of telomere shortening and reconstruction, and their connections to carcinogenesis (Marek Kimmel) on the one hand, and on the emergence of ALT (Alternative Lengthening of Telomeres) survivors (Juan Mardomingo Sanz), a critical area for understanding cellular immortality on the other hand. Finally, Ana-María Portillo della Fuente will explore the role of oxidative stress in aging and its impact on female fertility, integrating modeling approaches with physiological outcomes.
