Description
The endocrine system is a highly complex feedback loop, making it difficult to model in order to gain insights into biological and medical processes, which are important for basic research in this field, the treatment of diseases and the optimal use of medication. This minisymposium will present methods for mathematically describing the hormonal processes of the Hypothalamus-Pituitary-Thyroid (HPT) axis, thyroid-related diseases and the interaction between the HPT axis and radioimmune therapy. Contributions will cover modelling and analysis of the HPT axis, estimation of hormones, optimal drug dosing and the response of thyroid disease to radioiodine therapy. Contributions range from modelling to supporting the treatment of thyroid diseases and cancer. Some contributions deal with mathematical modelling, model analysis and model calibration using data, while others are related to controlling optima in relation to drug dosing and cancer therapy.
