Description
We are motivated by solution of dynamic variational inequalities appearing in the context of non-smooth optimization subjected to inequality constraints. The use of Lagrange multipliers and merit functions leads to semi-smooth Newton and primal-dual active-set numerical techniques. In the variational framework, we solve dynamic contact and impact problems with discontinuous velocities stemming from multifunctional applications in engineering, geo- and bio-mechanics.
